US Army Corps of Engineers

Typically, US Army Corps of Engineers projects offer the challenge of rehabilitating aging flood control, lock and dam facilities with extremely restrictive tolerances and specifications. The projects also require extensive quality control programs beyond the scope of normal construction contracts.

Lock and Dam No. 5, Allegheny River: The contract included concrete esplanade replacement, land wall concrete removal and replacement, installation of concrete channel track for Tow Haulage on the top of the lock wall and hydraulic lock circuit piping. Continual coordination with The US Army Corps of Engineers was required during lock shutdown to de-water the lock chamber for gate removal and replacement.

Pike Island Dam, Ohio River: Fabrication and replacement of Tainer Gate operating machinery buildings on Pike Island Dam Wall in Pike Island, West Virginia. To access the work, river barges were utilized.
