Carlisle Grading & Bridge Reconstruction

ALCM, LLC (ALCM) construction management staff is playing a vital role in completing the $161 million (Phase 1, $51; Phase 2, $110 million) Roadway and Bridge Reconstruction of I-76 Milepost 215 to Milepost 227. This contract provides for the full depth reconstruction the existing roadway, shoulders and median and add a third travel lane in each direction in the 11 mile-stretch between Milepost 215 and Milepost 227 near the Carlisle Interchange (Exit 226) in Central Pennsylvania's Cumberland County. The overall project is being completed in two separate phases.

Phase 1 construction between Mileposts 215 and 220 finished in November 2012. Phase 2 construction between Milepost 220.30 and Milepost 226.76 began September 2014. Under this phase, the existing two-lane roadway is being rebuilt from the ground up (full-depth total reconstruction) and widened from two-to-three lanes in each direction.

In addition, six mainline bridges - Alexanders Spring Creek, Waggoners Gap Road, Cave Hill Road, Spring Road, Wolfs Bridge Road, Harrisburg Pike, and the Meadowbrook Road overpass are being replaced. The project also includes the removal of a pedestrian underpass near Cave Hill Road (MP 224.4) and the Turnpike bridge over Meeting House Road. The bridges will be replaced by at-grade roadway. In addition, Six (6) sound barrier walls will be installed.
