Mon-Fayette 51

ALCM, LLC (ALCM) managed the $3.3M Job Order Contracts for the construction of a 90-foot diameter salt dome, mixing shed and calcium chloride tank at Mile Marker 5 and a 124-foot diameter dome, mixing shed, and calcium chloride tank at mile marker 18 of the Mon-Fayette Expressway. These facilities were rushed into construction in late August, 2009, and completed prior to the onset of winter weather. The work at MM18 is Phase I of a total $12M facility, Phase II of which will be constructed in the fall of 2010.

ALCM recommended an alternative power source for the MM5 facility that resulted in over $100K in savings. This change more than covered the cost of positive change orders which included undercutting unsuitable waste material and re-balancing the earthwork at the MM5 site.

Coordination with PennDOT District 12-0 was required for the MM18 facility for site access, Maintenance and Protection of Traffic, and re-grading a mound at the driveway entrance in order to provide adequate site distance to secure the driveway permit.
